4th Level Workshop

We were commissioned by the architectural firm Atelier 4e Niveau to drill exploratory holes in the facade of this building, following signs of water infiltration observed by the occupants on Rue Carillon.

During this work, we discovered a major structural problem. Over time, the wall had deteriorated due to modifications made in previous years by a contractor who had neglected the building's envelope. This situation, combined with prolonged water infiltration, had seriously weakened the log structure, which was severely damaged by rot. It was imperative to act quickly to avoid catastrophic structural deterioration.

Ateliers Dubois and Atelier 4e Niveau responded effectively by quickly mobilizing the necessary resources. We not only identified appropriate grants to financially support the owners, but also implemented a structured action plan to coordinate the work as quickly as possible.

Despite difficult winter conditions, in the middle of January, the work was completed without compromising the comfort of the occupants. This was a considerable challenge, as it required the complete removal of the severely deteriorated exterior load-bearing wall and its replacement with a new, solid and durable structure.

The photos speak for themselves: this project was a real challenge, but we are proud to have risen to the challenge and restored this building to its full value and potential. In our eyes, it is one of the most beautiful facades on Rue Carillon.
